Rubis Offers $25,000 In Free Fuel to The Unemployed

On Thursday December 3rd 2020 Rubis Bahamas Limited launched its Unemployment Assistance program providing free fuel to unemployed Bahamians. The program was designed to assist families by alleviating the burden and allowing them to redirect funds for other essential needs.

One thousand eligible persons were targeted to receive twenty-five dollars in fuel. Fuel, one of the most essential needs during this pandemic, despite closures will allow many to collect NIB payments, look for jobs, purchase grocery and the National Food Task Force to execute deliveries to various hubs in the community.

Under the Rubis Cares Campaign, Rubis also recently donated a year’s worth of fuel to two NGO’s, including The Bahamas Red Cross Society who is responsible for the south eastern distribution of food parcels in New Providence and the family islands.

To apply for Rubis’ Unemployment Assistance program, persons completed the online digital application at rubis-bahamas.com or on Rubis Bahamas social media pages. Proof of unemployment was required, and applicants had to be registered Rubis Rewards members to receive the weekly five-dollar fuel reward for five weeks.

To become a Rubis Rewards member, customers can visit any of the Rubis Service Stations in New Providence to collect a free rewards tag. Swipe the tag at the in-store printer to obtain the tag id and visit Rubis Bahamas website to register online. According to Vashti Simmons, Marketing Programs Coordinator, “Rubis Rewards is completely free and enables customers to receive free fuel, cash, shop discounts and more, year-round.” To redeem a reward, simply swipe your tag at the in-store printer to print the reward coupon.

The Rubis Cares Campaign will touch over 5,600 individuals. The campaign was designed to specifically capture various segments within the community; children, the disable, elderly, needy and loyal customers, during this most unexpected COVID-19 pandemic.
